ON TRACK ON TREND aims to inform and inspire like-minded, racegoing, stylish ladies and gents with the latest news on Fashions on the Field competitions, millinery, horseracing, fashion in general and whatever else pops up!

OTOT began as the collaborative effort of ANGELA MENZ and LISA TAN, who live on opposite sides of the globe and met through their shared interest in horseracing and Fashions on the Field (FOTF) competitions. As OTOT has evolved since it’s inception in 2013, Angela has taken over the role of editor and still heads to the track all over Australia sharing her insights and views via her camera lens and trusty iphone.

ANGELA MENZ (Editor) currently resides in Melbourne and treats everyday as a day to dress up and explore the fun of fashion. She is a milliner and designer with a love of horseracing. Her design aesthetic is varied but is underlined with a passion for bold colour, pattern and texture.

Since 2003 she has been a regular competitor in FOTF competitions at major Australian race meetings, winning many sashes along the way. Her ultimate highlight was being sashed as the winner of the national Myer Fashions on the Field competition at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in 2011 in an outfit she designed and made herself. She was thrilled to have her winning ensemble on display at the National Sports Museum as part of their Racing Style exhibition and was part of the Fashion and Flemington book, celebrating 50 years of FOTF.

Angela was a Myer Fashions on the Field ambassador at Rosehill Racecourse for the ATC Sydney Autumn Carnival in 2012 and was invited back to Flemington judge FOTF in 2012. She enjoys sitting on the other side of the stage these days and has judged various Fashions on the Field competitions all around Australia.

Aside from racing, she has kept herself busy creating millinery and working full time in the fashion industry. Angela is originally from Canberra and studied fashion design at the Canberra Institute of Technology.

LISA TAN (former co-editor) is originally from Perth, Western Australia, but moved to London in 2008 to experience life in a faster-paced environment. After stints working in digital media at Burberry and Heidi Klein, she left to pursue a more hands-on creative career as a milliner and launched her own millinery label in 2011.

Her love of millinery stems from being an entrant in Australian FOTF competitions, which she became hooked on after entering her first in 2000 at the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Her first FOTF win came at Perth’s Ascot Racecourse in 2003, but her most notable wins have occurred at London’s Epsom Downs Racecourse, which she has won twice, in 2009 and 2012.

Like Angela, Lisa also used to create her own racewear ensembles, having studied fashion design at the Western Australian Institute of Fashion & Textiles. She then went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in journalism and public relations, from Edith Cowan University, which she combined with her fashion studies to oversee the editorship of TheScene.com.au‘s fashion pages for four years.

A keen fan of horseracing as well as fashion, Lisa regularly attends major race meetings in Europe and Australia, including Royal Ascot, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and the Melbourne Cup Carnival, where she is now invited to judge the Myer Fashions on the Field competition each year.
