It’s time to pack away the straws and bring out the felts because top-shelf racing is moving to Sydney and that can only mean one thing: the Autumn Carnival is upon us.

Entry criteria for all competitions: please ensure outfits and millinery are appropriate for the autumn season. This means no straw hats – felt, leather and fabric hats only. Female entrants must wear millinery and covered-toe shoes (no peep-toes, ladies!). Entrants will be judged on attention to detail with their accessories, which means handbags are a must, and you should strongly consider your jewellery choices, plus adding gloves and umbrellas (depending on the weather) to your ensembles.

Men must wear a suit, jacket and tie. As with the women’s competition, attention to detail will set you apart so remember your accessories (gloves, racebook holder, cufflinks, binoculars – all worthy of consideration), and polish your shoes.

For competitions on the Championships Day 1, and in keeping with the traditional Derby Day dress code, you must wear black and white outfits to enter.
